Where the shape comes from
Water shown parting around a mountain gap and spilling out through the opening at the foot — the valley read as the mouth the water pours from between two slopes. It names the landform directly in 山谷, a mountain valley, and lends its sound to 浴, to bathe, water again standing near its shape, and to 欲, desire, longing, a want that opens like the valley’s mouth and has to be filled.
