Where the shape comes from
A pair of hands brought up side by side to lift or to offer — the left hand and the right hand drawn as two short uprights on a base. It is the pair of hands lifting the bar out of a gate in 開, and when simplification threw the gate away the hands were all that remained: 开. The same two hands work in 弄 and 弃.
