يتذكّر طالبٌ أشهرَه الأولى في الصفّ، حين كانت صينيّة أستاذته جدارًا من الأصوات. أبطأت الأستاذة وانغ كلامها، وطلبت من الطلبة أن يسألوا كلّما لم يفهموا، وكتبت له ذات مرّة الحروف التي عجز عن قراءتها. وفي يوم الامتحان صار قادرًا على حلّ كلّ الأسئلة، فقالت له إنّه يستطيع الآن أن يتحدّث مع الصينيّين. ستّ عشرة جملة ضمن المستويين الأوّل والثاني.
