Where the shape comes from
Two feet pointing away from each other, one turned left and one turned right — a small picture of things gone contrary, out of step. Set beneath a figure whose sleeves are spread wide and hung with ornament, it gives 舞, to dance, the dancer’s feet moving in the deliberately crossing, mirrored steps of the performance.
