… links two events that follow each other with no gap: “I’ll call you the moment I get home.” stands directly in front of the first verb and directly in front of the second, and both of them come after their subject. If the two clauses share a subject, it is stated once: . If the subjects differ, each clause keeps its own: “The moment the teacher came in, the students went quiet.” The same pattern also expresses a regular trigger — “whenever A, then B”: “Whenever he drinks coffee he can’t sleep.” Nothing in the frame marks tense; a final shows that one particular instance has already happened: . Two habits keep it clean. The first verb takes no is wrong, because already presents the action as complete. And is never dropped: both halves of the pair are always present.

正确

Say each one out loud before moving on. The audio is a reference pronunciation, not a model to imitate exactly — match the tone contour, not the voice.

  • 我一到家就给你打电话。我一到家就給你打電話。

I’ll call you as soon as I get home.

错误常见错误

These sentences are wrong. They are printed here on purpose, each one paired with the repair and the reason, because the error you can recognise is the error you stop making.

  • 不太对

    Incorrect sentence: 一我到家就给你打电话。

    正确

    Correct sentence: 我一到家就给你打电话。

为什么: 一 belongs to the verb, not to the sentence. It goes after the subject and immediately before the first verb.

  • 不太对

    Incorrect sentence: 我一到了家就给你打电话。

    正确

    Correct sentence: 我一到家就给你打电话。

为什么: No 了 on the first verb: 一 already presents that action as complete, and adding 了 makes the two markers compete.

  • 不太对

    Incorrect sentence: 老师一进来,学生们安静了。

    正确

    Correct sentence: 老师一进来,学生们就安静了。

为什么: 就 cannot be left out. Without it the second clause is simply a separate statement, and the immediacy disappears.

对比

Most errors with this pattern are not errors about this pattern — they are a neighbouring pattern arriving at the wrong moment. Read these side by side.

“一……就……”“因为……所以……”

Both are two-part frames whose halves must both appear, and in both the half learners drop is the second one. What differs is the link they claim. 因为…所以… says the second event follows *because of* the first: 因为下课了,所以他回宿舍了. 一…就… says only that the second event followed the first immediately, with no claim about cause: 他一下课就回宿舍了. If you could insert “that is why” in the English, the frame is 因为…所以…; if you would say “the moment…”, it is 一…就….

Cause and result: 因为…所以…
