   The end of a sequence. It closes what 先 and 然后 began: 先…，然后…，最后…. As an adverb it reports how a story came out, 最后我们决定不去了.

• Not quite他坐在教室的最后。

  Correct他坐在教室的后面。

  最后 orders things in time or in a sequence, not in space. The back of a room is 后面; the last item on a list is 最后一个.
