Where the shape comes from

A box drawn in section with the right-hand side left open, so that what it holds can be seen and taken out. It is the case around the arrow in 医 — originally a quiver — and it frames 区, 匹 and 匠. Kangxi keeps a near twin, 匸 (number 23), which is the same box tipped over to conceal what is inside.
