Common mistakes
Not quite我对这个城市不太了解这个语法。
Correct老师讲了两遍,我还是不理解。
了解 is knowing the facts about something — a person, a country, a situation. 理解 is grasping the sense of something explained to you — a rule, a sentence, someone’s feelings. A grammar point that will not sink in is not 理解d, not merely un-了解d.
